Project Coordinator, Yemen (Geneva Based)

DCAF seeks a highly qualified individual for the following position: Project Coordinator Yemen (100%).
Starting date:      December 2015
Duty Station:       Geneva, with travel to the MENA region
Duration:            12 months, renewable
Responsibilities:
Based at DCAF’s Head Office in Geneva and reporting directly to the Head of DCAF’s MENA Division, the Project Coordinator Yemen will be responsible for implementing DCAF’s programme of work in Yemen.
The responsibilities of the Project Coordinator Yemen include (but are not limited to):
  • Manage and develop DCAF’s programmes related to Yemeni security sector reform, including designing, planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating projects
  • Oversee all organisational, administrative and financial aspects of the programme
  • Develop projects, plans, proposals, budgets and resource strategies to meet planned objectives
  • Organise high-level events, workshops and trainings in the region, and produce high-quality research on specific aspects of security and justice sector reform
  • Grant management: oversee spending, prepare timely narrative and financial donor reports
  • Monitor the political, conflict and security situation in Yemen and the region, and assess implications for programme implementation
  • Develop donor relations and research new opportunities for funding
Requirements:
  • A minimum of 5 years work experience in governance, security and international development assistance
  • Advanced university degree in international relations, development, security, public administration or related subjects
  • Experience working with security and justice sector institutions and/or on change management and institutional reform
  • Proven track record in managing complex projects, preferably in the MENA region.
  • Excellent command of English and good command of French; knowledge of Arabic is considered an asset
  • Strong communication and diplomatic skills, ability to work in an international team and with local partners
  • Familiarity with the Yemeni/Gulf context
  • Flexibility, including availability for frequent missions abroad.
