FLAS Fellowships

FLAS FELLOWSHIPS

FOR GRADUATE AND UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS


The Institute for Global Studies and its partner centers, the African Studies Initiative and the Consortium for the Study of the Asians, offer Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) fellowships.  The fellowships promote language study - particularly less commonly taught languages - paired with international or area studies.

9-month Academic Year FLAS fellowships:
Undergraduate Students: Living stipend of $5,000 and up to $10,000 towards tuition and fees.  (Note: Undergraduates are only eligible for 2nd year language instructions and higher)
Graduate Students: Living stipend of $15,000 and up to $18,000 towards tuition and fees

Summer FLAS Fellowships:
Undergraduate and Graduate Students: Living stipend of $2,500 and up to $5,000 in tuition and fees
Intended for intensive language study domestically or abroad
