Hawkinson Scholarship, peace and social justice

Hawkinson Foundation Now Accepting Applications for their Hawkinson Scholarship

The Hawkinson Foundation, which seeks to acknowledge the amazing work of individuals in the areas of peace and social justice, has announced its scholarship for high school, undergraduate, and graduate students with a commitment to peace and justice. Potential applicant should be a resident of--or attending school in--Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin, and they should be able to demonstrate their achievements through one of the following: 1) Completed a specific peace and justice project; 2) Were courageous in pursuing their convictions about peace and justice, 3) Displayed ongoing commitment to, and leadership in, a peace organization; or 4) Served as a role model for others in moving church or society into new realms of thought and practice regarding peace and justice. Scholarships range from $1,000 for high school students to $4,000-5,000 for undergraduate and graduate students.
