HHH Prof. Zhao attends conferences, meets students around China

Associate Professor Zhirong (Jerry) Zhao just finished an eight week trip in China. During the trip, he attended three conferences, delivered more than 10 talks in a dozen universities at six different cities, and met and discussed with many students who are interested in the Humphrey master or doctoral programs.

One of the conferences was the Fifth International Chinese Public Administration Forum, held at Nanjing City, co-sponsored by Nanjing University and the China-America Association for Public Affairs (CAAPA). Another conference was an International Conference on Public Finance and Local Governance, held at Chengdu City, co-sponsored by Southwestern University of Finance and Economics and CAAPA. CAAPA was founded in 2005 as a bridge between public affairs scholars in US and in China. As one of the founding member for CAAPA, and its current president during 2015-2016, Zhao was amazed to see the growth of academic collaboration and exchanges across country borders as collective efforts to address governance and policy issues and very proud that the Humphrey School has become an institutional member of CAAPA.

Among the universities that Zhao visited was Xiamen University, with which the Humphrey school has developed a collaborative program called “early and conditional admission" to channel more great students to our MPP program. Zhao introduced the school and our programs to dozens of prospective applicants. The Humphrey School has had multiple alumni and quite several visiting students/fellows from Xiamen University, and we are looking forward to many more students joining us in the coming years.
