MDP Osborne researching sustainable Maya nut production in Guatemala

Lily Osborne is researching the environmental impact of the Maya nut harvest and opportunities for sustainable production in Guatemala.

"Our research team has been able to connect with several communities to learn about collection, drying, and processing of Maya nut, or ramón as it is locally called. I've learned a lot about the environmental and social challenges communities face, and the income that ramón has the potential to provide, which is very important as there are limited rural livelihood opportunities. We also were able to enjoy the community's father's day celebration, where all of the fathers celebrated by playing each other in a game of fútbol. It was a great experience!"
