About KadAfrica

KadAfrica empowers out of school girls through agribusiness. We use passion fruit farming as a vehicle for girls to build their own support systems to become independent and empowered decision makers. By equipping girls with the knowledge, skills, and assets to begin their own passion fruit farms, KadAfrica girls become financially literate, entrepreneurial leaders generating income through agribusiness. This girl-powered vertically integrated value chain creates vibrant rural communities, and allows us to provide the highest quality fruit at a consistent price, year-round.

KadAfrica has worked with more than 1,800 out of school girls aged 14-22 to establish their own passion fruit farms through our proprietary KadAfrica Experience training program and innovative post-paid land lease model. In addition, we have our own 23-acre passion fruit farm and have established contracts with Community Based Outgrowers and KadAfrica Experience Alumni to further bolster our supply chain. To date we have planted more than 80,000 seedlings across 120+ acres in Western Uganda to become on of the largest horticulture based outgrower projects in the country. We are excited for continued expansion across the region and to provide increased economic opportunity for our farmers through value addition.

Although KadAfrica is a local enterprise, it has support across a worldwide network. In addition to attracting institutional funders such as USAID, DFID, and Grand Challenges Canada, KadAfrica has won numerous awards including Unreasonable Institute East Africa Fellowship, Ashoka Future Forward, Yara Prize, and Spring Accelerator, and has been featured in publications such as Forbes and The Guardian. Our board multi-sector board combines backgrounds in social entrepreneurship, finance, and agriculture, and includes representatives from the Leeds School of Business at University of Colorado and RaboBank.
