Uganda Site Visit: MoSAIC Capstone Team

Since November 2016, Humphrey School students (L-R) Claire Psarouthakis (MPP ‘17), Alex Cheatham (MPP ‘18), June Nkwenge (MDP ‘17), and Yu Sun (MPP ‘17)  have been working on a capstone project with the Mossier Social Action and Innovation Center (MoSAIC) to create a monitoring and evaluation process for projects that MoSAIC funds. MoSAIC is an organization based in Minnesota that promotes economic empowerment of LGBTI people globally, so that they are able to advocate for their own rights in their countries.

The capstone team traveled to Uganda over spring break to collect data through interviews, surveys and focus group discussions of key stakeholders including local LGBTI organizations, LGBTI businesses and entrepreneurs, and a crop-fish-livestock integrated farming system. The findings will be presented to MoSAIC in May 2017, and at the 2017 IPID Research Conference on April 27, 2017.
