Humphrey Law School Fellow alum Avellano visits UMN

University of Minnesota Law School Hubert H. Humphrey International Fellowship program alums Amy A. Avellano was in Minneapolis recently for a visit.

"I was on official business to participate in a US Judicial Learning Visit Program for Family Court Judges from Nov. 4 to 17, 2017. We visited and looked at good approaches in Kapolei, Hawaii; Cook Country, Chicago, Illinois; and Hennepin County, Minneapolis, Minnesota. We looked at the Family Court Enhancement Program of Cook County and Hennepin County. We also studied the one family, one judge approach, family mediation, and trauma-informed judiciary. We will report back to the Supreme Court of the Philippines our findings and recommend innovations that would further improve the Philippines Family Courts System.
