A Freeman Seminar:

The Trial of Laurent Gbagbo at the International Criminal Court

Neha Jain, Associate Professor and McKnight Land-Grant Professor
University of Minnesota Law School

Tuesday, November 7, 2017, 12:45 to 2:00 p.m.

The Stassen Room, 170 Humphrey School

Professor Jain will discuss the main legal issues arising out of the trial of former President of Ivory Coast Laurent Gbagbo, and co-accused Charles Blé Goudé, before the International Criminal Court. The accused have been charged with crimes against humanity in the context of the post-electoral violence in Ivory Coast between December 16, 2010 and April 12, 2011. The trial raises important questions concerning evidentiary and procedural practices at the ICC and the scope and definition of crimes within the jurisdiction of the court.
