Expert on US-China relations to speak at Humphrey School Sept 10

The Humphrey School is pleased to announce that Prof. Ren Xiao, Fudan University, will speak on

"Managing US-China relations in a changing world" at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs, Thursday, Sept. 10 at 3pm.  

Dr. REN Xiao is currently professor of international politics and Director of the Center for the Study of Chinese Foreign Policy at the Institute of International Studies (IIS), Fudan University. Previously he was Senior Fellow and Director of the Asia Pacific Studies Department, Shanghai Institute for International Studies (SIIS). Before joining SIIS in 2002, he taught international politics at Fudan University from 1992 to 2002.   

Dr. Ren studied in the University of Essex and held research or visiting positions at the University of Turku, Nagoya University and George Washington University. His recent publications are: New Frontiers of China’s Foreign Relations (co-ed with Allen Carlson), “Debating China’s Rise in China” (book chapter, Palgrave Macmillan 2013), and “Between Adapting and Shaping: China’s Role in Asian Regional Cooperation.” 

He is a member of the China National Committee of Council for Security Cooperation in the Asia Pacific (CSCAP) and he worked at the Chinese Embassy in Tokyo from 2010 to 2012. 

He received his Ph.D. in political science from Fudan University in 1992.
