Program Officer, Alliance for Middle East Peace, DC Based

ALLMEP seeks a dynamic, creative, and articulate Program Officer to support its development, advocacy, outreach, and marketing programs in the United States and worldwide. This position provides a rare opportunity to contribute to Israeli and Palestinian peace and security by serving as the voice and advocate for tens of thousands of Israelis and Palestinians, Arabs and Jews who are building cooperation as a foundation for lasting peace; and building bridges between those regional peacebuilders and the many Americans of all backgrounds who care deeply about peace in the region.

ALLMEP is the coalition of over 90 non-governmental organizations that promote people-to-people cooperation, coexistence, and reconciliation between tens of thousands of Israelis and Palestinians, Arabs and Jews in the Middle East. ALLMEP builds the foundation for long-term peace, security, and stability by raising awareness and increasing resources for these critical cooperative efforts while also creating more coordination among member projects. It works to build a thriving community and movement of Israelis, Palestinians, and international supporters who unite in support of the values of peace, coexistence, security, freedom, justice, rights and dignity for all.

The Program Officer will:                
  • Support the Executive Director in organizational growth, including researching donor prospects, developing creative fundraising campaigns, grant writing, and grant reporting.
  • Manage and overhaul ALLMEP online presence: create a new website and implement greater integration of social media, emails and online giving.
  • Work with the Executive Director and Board of Directors on ALLMEP’s advocacy objectives in Washington DC. This will include developing, planning, and executing public and private advocacy days, conferences, meetings, and events.
  • Be an articulate spokesperson for Middle East citizen diplomacy to ALLMEP’s target audiences – policymakers and diplomats, media, private funders, and religious communities.
  • Work with member organizations to arrange their visits to Washington, DC.
  • Work with partner and affinity groups to deepen the presence of ALLMEP in Washington, DC.
  • Support the Executive Director and Regional Director administratively when needed.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree; higher degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • High level of knowledge on the Israeli Palestinian conflict.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in successful fundraising and advocacy.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Willingness to work from home office or shared work-space.
  • Proficient and independent computer user (must be knowledgeable in or a quick learner of new technologies, such as social networking, sending email newsletters, and updating web sites).

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with advocacy before Congress and the Executive Branch.
  • Experience in grant writing.
  • Knowledge of Hebrew and/or Arabic.
  • Web site development/management experience.
  • Event planning experience.
  • Public relations experience.

Salary: $35,000 -$40,000
