Senior Gender Equality Advisor Position

A position as the Senior Gender Equality Advisor in London for Save the Children is in need of applicant!

Responsibilities on the job would include:
  • Provide technical support to the Girls' Programming Advisor and Gender and Gender Based Violence Humanitarian Technical Advisor, and technical assistance to country programmes – often in-country 
  • Develop and design evidence-based gender equality programmes and approaches 
  • Devise organisational policy, frameworks and guidance 
  • Work to develop capacity and an enabling environment to further strengthen and grow this area of work 
  • Represent Save the Children UK to a wide range of external stakeholders. 

To be successful, you'll be a recognised gender equality expert with country-based experience championing gender equality in development and humanitarian programming. You'll be highly motivated to transform the lives of girls and women, and will have a background stretching beyond gender advisory work that includes programmatic work. You will additionally have:
  • A Master's in Gender and Development, Gender Studies, Education, Health, Social Work or equivalent. Experience can be an alternative to qualifications. 
  • Knowledge of gender equality, gender transformative approaches, changing restrictive social and gender norms, the rights and empowerment of women and girls, and engaging men and boys in gender equality 
  • Extensive experience of working with gender mainstreaming – including programme development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation 
  • Knowledge of a broad range of relevant programming – e.g. safe spaces, female education, maternal, child and sexual reproductive health, violence against women, vocational training, livelihoods and empowerment 
  • Impressive understanding of child rights programming and human rights-based approaches.
