Thurs, Mar 10 United Nations Environment Programme Head speaking

Shaoyi Li (UNEP IRP): A credible voice in science-policy interface on sustainable management of natural resources
Date: March 10  Time: 4 PM  Place: HHH 215 (Wilkins Room)

Please join us for refreshments and a lecture and conversation with Shaoyi Li, Head, Integrated Resource Management Unit, United Nations Environment Programme.

Mr. Li is managing the Secretariat of the International Resource Panel, a science-policy expert team engaged in scientific assessment of sustainable use of natural resources from a life-cycle perspective. Mr. Li is leading a team to develop and implement UNEP policy and programme for resource efficiency and environmental sustainability and contribute to policy discourse at the global and regional levels on sustainable management of natural resources.

For this talk, Mr. Li will focus on his IRP work with a focus on its Material Flow Accounting (MFA) work. "The MFA is a new work stream for us and we have made some progress I would like to share with you. My thinking is that SRN is pretty much contextualized and region specific while MFA is global in scale and there might be certain complementarity."
