HHH students complete Stimson Center capstone project on conflict resolution approaches

Global Public Policy MPP students Michael Beach, Laurel Draine, Maribeth Menendez, Eric Switzer and Lingran Zhou worked with the Stimson Center’s Protecting Civilians in Conflict program and advisor Mary Curtin to complete their capstone project. The team travelled to the Stimson Center in Washington D.C. this week to present their project.

Under the broader framework of civilian protection, the scope of our project involved a comparison and analysis of local-level conflict resolution approaches within conflict-affected countries. We investigated a sample of countries that covered a variety of contexts and a variety of local conflict resolution approaches. We conducted extensive searches for specific organizations engaged directly in conflict resolution, both purely local organizations and international NGOs. We reached out to several organizations and were able to conduct several interviews, via e-mail, Skype, and in person, to learn more about the specific approaches each group takes in its conflict resolution efforts.
