Global Witness, Senior Policy Advisor (Asia Forest team), Wash DC

Global Witness are looking for a Senior Policy Advisor to join our passionate and committed Asia Forest team. The position is based in our Washington, DC office.

Working collaboratively with other teams at Global Witness, you’ll play a key role in research and advocacy aimed at exposing and preventing corruption, human rights abuses and environmental destruction driven by the expansion of large-scale logging and agriculture in the South East Asia and Pacific region. The role involves a particular focus on engagement in China.

This role will involve developing and implementing strategies and messages for engaging with the Chinese government, industry and civil society; organising and leading both desk and field based research on natural resource governance in priority forested countries; researching supply chains involving major international markets for tropical timber; producing a broad range of high quality communications which reach a diverse range of audiences; building a network of contacts and representing Global Witness at advocacy meetings with a range of stakeholders.

Applicants should have proven experience developing and implementing successful advocacy campaigns, knowledge of issues related to natural resource sectors, and strong research, communications, and advocacy skills. Fluency in Mandarin Chinese and English are required.
