The Department of Peace Operations (DPO) – PATRIR and UPP are looking for a Peacebuilding Project Manager to be hired for the second phase the project:

Nineveh Paths to Social Cohesion, Coexistence and Peace funded by UNDP through Funding Facility for Immediate Stabilization,implemented by the Department for Peace Operations of the Peace Action Training and Research Institute of Romania (DPO-PATRIR) and Un Ponte Per

The second phase of the Nineveh Paths to Peace program supports on the ground, community-based interventions to produce practical impact on local and regional conflict dynamics, focusing on newly accessible areas in Nineveh. The project is embedded in ensuringauthentic ownership and development of robust, resilient and effective peacebuilding capacities: directly in communities; in key civil society organizations; and in community-level and provincial authorities. Activities will start with the development of a strongcommunity-based early warning and social cohesion analysis framework directly linked with community-based programming and peacebuilding intervention measures for mediation, prevention, reconciliation and improving social cohesion. The action will include community-based public awareness raising campaigns and programs to address and prevent youth recruitment and improve inter-community relations; direct interventions by community-based mediation structures (local peace committees) and supporting the development of the Provincial Peace Council, community measures for transitional justice and strong emphasis on development and support of women’s and youth peace teams. The extent of practical, on the ground intervention, mediation, prevention, peacebuilding and reconciliation measures in the program builds upon strong community partnership and relations with local civil society and local authorities developed in the first phase of the Nineveh Paths project.

This is a significant and extraordinary peacebuilding engagement with a qualified, dedicated team, and we are looking for a well-qualified, highly capable, and committed Peacebuilding Programme Manager to play a key leadership role in the project, ensuring strong overall programme management while being able to bring peacebuilding experience and contribution.

Overall Objectives of Nineveh Paths to Peace:
To strengthen the capacity of local civil society organizations and community-leadership to implement effective mediation, dialogue and reconciliation processes to improve inter-community relations and prevent violent incidents;
To implement community level dialogue, mediation and reconciliation processes which have a measurable impact on improving community relations and strengthening capacities to handle conflicts and prevent incidents of violence.

Profile of the Candidate:

We are looking for a highly motivated, dynamic and dedicated individual with strong project management and administrative skills / expertise as well as peacebuilding knowledge and experience. Knowledge of Arabic and/or Kurdish would be highly valued. The position of Peacebuilding Project Manager will require you to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders and actors incl. local authorities, civil society partners, community-based actors, tribal leadership, religious leadership, UNDP and national and international organisations. You will work in a team including a Senior Peacebuilding Advisor, a Peacebuilding Project Assistant, a Peacebuilding & Communications Officer, and a Project Administrator. This is the opportunity to be part of a very significant peacebuilding engagement, and we are looking for someone who is able to bring authentic presence, skills, and the ability to engage effectively together with a good team and broad range of partners.
