China Center Scholarship
History
The China Center Scholarship Fund, or Red Pockets Scholarship, was created in 2004 thanks to the generous donations from the China Center’s annual fund drive in honor of its 25th anniversary. In Chinese traditional culture, a red pocket is a monetary gift which is given during holidays or special occasions. Today the scholarship fund relies on donation from individual and corporate supporters of the China Center. Make a contribution now.
Purpose
The scholarship will provide an opportunity for University of Minnesota students to incorporate an educational or research experience in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, or Macau as part of their academic studies, internships, research, or professional training. The scholarship will be used for the payment, partially or totally, of travel or tuition. Awards are between $500 and $1,000.
Eligibility
Applicant must be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in a degree-seeking program at the University of Minnesota
Applicant must be in good academic standing, with at least a 3.0 GPA, with potential in their field

How to Apply
Students should submit a completed application and the supporting materials to the China Center Office. Applications will be reviewed by a committee. Scholarship recipients will be notified of scholarship awards by email approximately three weeks after the application deadline. Materials must be received no later than 4:00 p.m. on the deadline date. For more information, contact the China Center.
