MPA alum D'Rozario founder of NGO Indika Alliance, domestic workers protection work in India

Denise D’Rozario (MPA-2013) launched the Indika Alliance in 2015 and over the past two years the Minneapolis based organization has been able to help protect young women from trafficking, and help create meaningful improvements for hundreds of women and girls who are domestic workers in India.

The Indika Alliance is partnered with National Domestic Workers’ Movement (NDWM), an organization that has led the cause for domestic workers and child workers in India for over 30 years. Domestic workers who are mostly girls and women are among the most exploited group of workers in India. Despite working tirelessly every single day, domestic workers live their entire lives in the margins of society – impoverished and lacking education and medical care. According to Denise “ We work closely with our partner on the ground to maximize support, training and education for these workers, and help them advocate for much needed policy and societal changes. We also focus on preventing the trafficking of girls into forced labor and the abuse of child workers”.

With board members in Minneapolis, New York and the Bay Area, the Indika Alliance is working to expand awareness and support for their mission across the United States. You can support the organization or sign up to learn more at
