About the Position: The purpose of this role is to significantly expand Atlas Corps’ programmatic capacity by improving the experience of Fellows through superior support services and by leading recruitment and engagement of Atlas Corps volunteers. The key responsibilities of the Program Associate include Fellow support, volunteer operations, event coordination, project management, leading communications with Fellows and volunteers, and database management. The Program Associate will report to the Program Director.


Fellow Support: Ensure an enriching and transformative Fellowship experience for emerging social change leaders from every region of the world.
Provide day-to-day support to Fellows with regard to their placement, housing, and welfare.
Conduct initial and mid-Fellowship check-ins with Fellows and their Host Organization supervisors and provide coaching to help them achieve their professional development goals.
Ensure that accurate records are kept for all Fellows in accordance with J-1 Visa/SEVIS guidelines.
Identify trends, opportunities for improvement, and stories that demonstrate the success and impact of the program, especially for funded Fellow placements in grant reporting
Organize Atlas Corps conference delegations to yearly conferences including: the American Express Global Leadership Academy Summit, Points of Light, U.N. Social Good Summit, Social Innovation Summit and others.
Support the Fellow recruitment and vetting process through completion of application reviews and interviews.

Volunteer Engagement & Management: Expand the capacity of Atlas Corps to more effectively achieve our mission through leadership of our growing volunteer program.
Coordinate volunteer-related activities with nearly 400 volunteers in the U.S. and abroad (including Selection Board Members, Local Ambassadors, and Interns).
Lead recruitment, vetting and training (in-person and virtual) of new volunteers.
Write and send monthly volunteer newsletter that informs volunteers about upcoming events, announces volunteer needs, and celebrates outstanding volunteers.
Manage engagement strategies including the “Atlas Corps Volunteers” Facebook.
Lead orientation of new Program Interns, as well as supervise in-person and remote interns.

Responsibilities of all Team Members:
Commit to team goals and support the work of colleagues beyond the responsibilities described here. This may include attending events outside of business hours, supporting the Fellow screening process by conducting interviews and reviewing applications; preparing new Fellow housing; and greeting Fellows at the airport.
Maintain all physical and digital files in a uniform way, and in alignment with government requirements.
Support Atlas Corps fundraising initiatives by sharing opportunities to contribute to our mission through social media and other channels.
Seek out opportunities to improve and expand the work of Atlas Corps.
Seek out opportunities to develop new skills and knowledge, and grow professionally.
Contribute to an innovative, high-performing, team culture by engaging in behaviors like: sharing ideas; being open to the ideas of others; accepting and offering feedback; and supporting and treating your colleagues with respect.

Ideal Candidate:

As a prerequisite, the ideal candidate will believe in the mission of Atlas Corps and share our vision of developing the largest and best multilateral exchange for nonprofit professionals. Due to State Department requirements, this candidate must be a U.S. citizen. Additional requirements are:
Internationally-Minded – Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills; proven ability to interact effectively with people of diverse cultures and backgrounds.
Organized & Process-Oriented – Ability to consistently follow defined processes with accuracy and efficiency to ensure transparency and organizational learning.
Action-Oriented – Enjoys working hard and working towards stretch goals; able to act and react as necessary, even if limited information is available.
Creative – entre/intrapreneurial orientation to problem-solving is highly preferred.
Strategic and Agile – Ability to think strategically, anticipate future consequences and trends, and incorporate them into the organizational plans
Tech Savvy – Knowledge of and/or the ability to quickly become familiar with Google applications, Salesforce, and our application system
1-5 years of professional experience. National or international service experience, including AmeriCorps*VISTA and the Peace Corps, is highly desirable.
Ability to work as part of a small team, establish priorities, meet deadlines, and manage a variety of tasks with accuracy and efficiency.
Volunteer management experience strongly preferred.
Event planning experience a plus.
