Join the University of Minnesota for the presentation of an honorary degree to Sauli Väinämö Niinistö, President of the Republic of Finland, in recognition of his distinguished international public service. Both the state of Minnesota and the University of Minnesota have broad and deep connections with Finland, which makes this honorary degree all the more meaningful.
The program will include remarks from John Coleman, Dean of the College of Liberal Arts; Eric Kaler, President of the University of Minnesota; Charlotte Melin, Chair of the Department of German, Scandinavian & Dutch; James Parente, Director of the Center for German and European Studies; and a University of Minnesota Regent.
President Kaler, Regent Dean Johnson, CLA Dean Coleman, various U of M, State of Minnesota public officials, Finnish officials, and other international consulate officials will attend this celebration open to the public.
Admission is FREE and open to the public.
