Journalists from Europe, the Middle East, North and Central America on reporting one of the world's most controversial, consequential stories.
Friday, November 10, 4-6 p.m., 130 Murphy Hall
Free and open to the public
Riveted by images of boats going down and walls going up, torn apart by opposed humanitarian and security pulls, the citizens of Europe, the Middle East, and the Americas are struggling to cope with the myriad effects of some of the largest refugee movements in a century.
Trying to make sense of these crises is a profession itself in crisis – factual, accurate, objective journalism is under fire. Learn the story behind the stories from key reporters representing leading news media in all four regions!
Moderated by Prof. Giovanna Dell’Orto of HSJMC and Perla Trevizo of the Arizona Daily Star. Also participating: Journalists working for The Associated Press, CNN Greece, the Los Angeles Times, and Public Radio International, plus scholars from the University of Arizona, University of California Hastings, University of Potsdam, and University of Vienna.
