Inclusive Global Leadership Initiative 2nd annual Summer Institute, Univ of Denver

The Inclusive Global Leadership Initiative (IGLI) is pleased to invite nominations for our second annual Summer Institute, University of Denver

The Inclusive Global Leadership Initiative (IGLI) is pleased to invite nominations for our second annual Summer Institute, to be held August 26-29, 2018, at the Josef Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver. The 2018 Summer Institute, co-directed by Marie Berry and Erica Chenoweth, will convene leading women-identifying activists from the frontlines of movements to advance peace, security, and human rights across the world. The Institute will offer these activists opportunities for training, networking, and learning on how to wage effective nonviolent civil resistance campaigns in their home communities. Throughout the three-day Institute, participants will take part in a variety of sessions, including on how women can strengthen their role as leaders in movements for social change. Activists will have the chance to interact with other participants, University of Denver faculty, students, and some of the world’s leading experts on civil resistance.

We are seeking nominations for 2018 Institute participants. To be eligible, women must be currently involved in community organizing, civil resistance efforts, or other grassroots work around issues related peace, security, and human rights (broadly conceived). We welcome self-nominations. Candidates should have experience with and an interest in learning about nonviolent strategies to affect change. They must be conversant in English and able to travel to Denver, Colorado to attend the entirety of the Institute.

IGLI, a project of the Sié Chéou-Kang Center for International Security and Diplomacy at the Josef Korbel School will cover all costs associated with travel and lodging for the selected participants. Letters for obtaining a visa, in addition to reasonable visa expenses (if required), will also be provided.

Nominations are due Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. MST, and can be made electronically at: Please direct any questions to Please visit the IGLI website for more information.
