International Women's Day: Promoting and Supporting Women of African Descent
Thursday, March 8th | 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Cowles Auditorium, Humphrey School of Public Affairs

Isuroon and the Center on Women, Gender, and Public Policy invite you to a symposium centered on women of African descent in celebration of International Women’s Day.

The World Economic Forum predicts that the gender gap won't close entirely until 2186, and even later for women of African descent. This symposium will provide a space for critical dialogue addressing Minnesota’s racial disparities, which are among the worst in the United States, and will identify ways that Minnesotans can help promote the lives of women of African descent here in Minnesota and around the world.

Please join us for this daylong (8 am – 5 pm) event that will address all aspects of lives of women of African descent, featuring keynote addresses and panels on economics, health, and other areas.

Lunch will be provided by local African restaurants and caterers!

The event is free and open to the public. Please register for the event here and share the Facebook event.
Please contact cwgpp@umn.edu to request disability accommodations.
