Ploughshares Fund grantmaking opens July 1, focus on nuclear weapons-free world
Applying for a Grant

Ploughshares Fund supports organizations and individuals working to build a safe, secure, nuclear weapons-free world. Please read our Funding Priorities to determine if your project fits into our areas of interest.

Ploughshares Fund is unique in that we place very few restrictions on our grantmaking:
  • There are no geographical limitations on our grants
  • We are able to fund direct lobbying programs
  • We make grants to individuals.
Please note that we do not fund the production of films, videos, books, art projects, provide scholarships or the research and writing of academic dissertations.

If you are still uncertain if your project will meet our areas of interest, please submit this form with a brief description of your project. We will let you know if a full proposal is appropriate.

How to Apply

Ploughshares Fund has switched to an online applications portal. If you are a first time applicant, you will need to take our eligibility quiz before you can apply.

When to Apply

Our Fall 2019 application cycle will open on July 1, 2018 and will close on August 1, 2018. If you plan on applying for a grant on the Winter cycle, please register your Portal account as soon as possible.

In between the three annual board meetings, Ploughshares Fund staff have the ability to make discretionary grants up to $25,000. These discretionary grants are used to support time urgent projects related to our highest priority funding areas, and projects must have a high likelihood of achieving short-term policy impact. To submit a discretionary grant request, please submit this form with a brief description of your project.
