Human Rights students support refugees in Washington, D.C.

Hayley Drozdowski (MHR) and Julia Wilber (MPP/MSW, Human Rights minor) spent their summer supporting high level advocacy work at Washington, D.C. based organization Refugees International (RI).

RI provides a “powerful voice for lifesaving action” as it advocates for lifesaving assistance and protection for displaced people and promotes solutions to displacement crises. Both students worked closely with the recent emergency mission RI sent to the U.S./Mexico border.

Ms. Drozdowski continued to focus on this crisis through an issue brief on alternatives to detention at the border.

Ms. Wilber built on her work in Professor Frey’s Human Rights Advocacy course and monitored continuing developments in the Rohingya crisis, writing on the importance of accountability (forthcoming).
