The Status of Global Notes: Please Stay in Touch

Global Notes Readers:

With the retirement of Sherry Gray, we are in a moment of transition for Global Notes. As you may have noticed, the blog and email updates were recently placed on a temporary hiatus as we assess the best next steps for keeping engaging with you and the entire Humphrey School of Public Affairs global policy community.

Many of the services provided through Global Notes (alumni updates, networking, career opportunities, and events) are provided through Humphrey communications and career and professional development services. I encourage you to follow these channels:

·      Career and employment resources – The Humphrey School’s Career and Professional Development team is focused on connecting the Humphrey community. Whether for networking purposes or making sure you know about career opportunities, they regularly publish open positions relevant to our degree programs and are an incredible resource for helping connect people within a field. If you would like to know more, or have job postings or resources for them to share, email Job postings with an international focus can be tagged on our Job and Internship Postings page to make them more visible.
·      LinkedIn – Did you know the Humphrey has a two LinkedIn groups – one for alumni and one for career services - providing you with an opportunity to network? Start by connecting with the school through the Humphrey’s LinkedIn page and then request to join either of these groups, which are listed under the “Featured Groups” section.
·      Events – The Humphrey has a listserv dedicated to promoting events related to our degree programs. If you would like to be on this listserv, you can subscribe on our website. Also, please submit any events to

Beyond these opportunities, we are having ongoing conversations about how to highlight global and international topics within the School and with our broader community, including:
·      Exploring the possibility of a student listserv for sharing opportunities with students interested in global policy
·      Updating the Humphrey School website to increase the visibility of both our International Fellows and International Visiting Scholars
·      Engaging in a discussion of internationally-focused faculty research opportunities at our next faculty retreat
·      Generating new content on international education, research, and engagement for the Humphrey website, social media, and bi-annual magazine

Please know your engagement with the Humphrey School of Public Affairs is not taken for granted. We know that information and communication are critical to sustaining any community. As we make this transition, we want to make sure that we stayed connected to you, our Global Notes community, while also finding new ways to demonstrate the importance and impacts of our globally focused students, staff, faculty, alumni, and friends to our Humphrey School community more broadly.

Thank you for your patience. And a sincere thank you to Sherry Gray for her tremendous work building Global Notes into such a worthwhile resource.

Please watch for our fall Humphrey Magazine which is focused on the school’s global reach and the tremendous work happening across the world with our fellowships and Master of Development Practice program.
