Events Coordinator, Washington, D.C.

1776, a global incubator and seed fund, is seeking a full-time events coordinator to join its Washington, D.C. team. We are looking for someone with exceptional communication skills, strong attention to detail, extremely organized, positive attitude, and a passion for logistics and execution.

Description
Reporting to the D.C. Campus Manager, the Events Coordinator will manage and oversee all events in Washington, D.C.  The Events Coordinator will work closely with the Campus Manager to develop the strategy and structure for a robust events program. You will work closely with the top event organizers in the D.C. metro area on meetups, launch parties, hackathons and fireside chats with audiences ranging from 50 to 500.  
The Events Coordinator will be responsible for managing and overseeing the logistics, communications and execution of all events hosted on the D.C. Campus. You will also work closely with the 1776 Media team to plan, promote and execute all 1776 produced events in Washington, D.C.  The ideal candidate has a strong work ethic, entrepreneurial spirit, proactive approach to all tasks at hand and can work across many teams.

Responsibilities include:
  • Coordinate and work closely with event organizers to ensure all of their needs are met and their events are successful, which includes day-to-day correspondence, logistics and event execution.
  • Identify events that align with the 1776 mission, entrepreneurship and core industries of education, energy & sustainability, health, transportation and cities.
  • Collaborate with the Crystal City Events Coordinator and overall events team to develop and execute the D.C. events strategy and program.
  • Work closely with internal and external event organizers to process inbound event requests
  • Develop and manage the D.C. events internship program
  • Build and maintain D.C. events budget and share with the Campus Manager regularly.
  • Manage the D.C. events calendar

Requirements:
  • Basic knowledge of events logistics and execution
  • Experience with audio visual systems, microphones and lighting
  • Graphic design experience, a plus
  • A passion for entrepreneurship and working with Washington, D.C.’s top startups and event organizers who are disrupting and changing the world.
  • Energetic and friendly attitude with a strong commitment to professionalism and customer service.
  • Exceptional follow up, time management and organization skills a must
  • Self-motivated, team-oriented, positive attitude
  • Bachelors degree with experience in entrepreneurship, business or related fields.
  • Entry-level, 1-2 years events experience a plus
