STARTUP COMMUNITIES MANAGER
Global Entrepreneurship Network, a year-round platform of programs and initiatives aimed at creating one global entrepreneurial ecosystem, is seeking a Startup Communities Manager to strengthen its connections with entrepreneurs, investors and other startup advocates throughout the United States and around the world.
Born by the communities that celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week each November, GEN helps people in 160 countries unleash their ideas and turn them into promising new ventures—creating jobs, unearthing innovations for society and strengthening economic stability around the world.
GEN is looking for an energetic, outgoing individual with excellent customer service skills to manage programs that serve startup communities. The ideal candidate has experience and familiarity with the founder/startup space, is very positive and outgoing, enjoys details, is exceptionally well-organized and efficient in follow up. 
The Startup Communities Manager will be responsible for overseeing specific GEN programs targeted specifically at startup communities. 
The position reports to the president of the organization and requires infrequent / occasional international travel. 
Responsibilities:
  • Managing new business plan competition platform; including primary responsibility for sales and marketing, and customer service
  • Building and growing a virtual club for the most promising founders emerging from GEN competitions and activities
  • Building and growing a collaborative community learning program; including training local organizers to self-manage their individual location
  • Identifying and reaching out to startup leaders in U.S. cities with an interest in participating in GEW USA Cities initiative
  • Helping managing GEN's Startup Open competition; including primary responsibility for sales, marketing and customer service
Qualifications:
  • Proven organizational and customer service skills
  • Solid written and verbal communications skills
  • Self-starter, motivated to work independently and prioritize weekly tasks based on company needs
  • Familiarity with the needs of startup founders
  • Ability to manage a network of people and balance individual and group needs
  • Experience working or studying in the field of high growth entrepreneurship
  • Familiarity with basic HTML and content management systems (e.g. Drupal, WordPress)
