Daniel Blaufuks is a Lisbon-based German Jewish contemporary artist and scholar who explores how memories are made through media. His film installation, "Als Ob" ( meaning "As If"), compares the Czech city of TerezĂn as it is today with the WWII ghetto-camp of Theresienstadt formerly located there. In doing so, the film highlights similarities between the two time periods and creates a dialogue between the film excerpts from different times.

At Tuesday's event, panel participants will discuss the role of photography, film and art in the preservation and also creation of new forms of Holocaust memory at a time when the generation of survivors diminishes. A 30-minute excerpt of the film will be shown beginning at 5:30pm, just prior to the talk, which will begin at 6:15pm.

On Thursday the film will be screened in its entirety throughout museum hours at the Weisman (10am-5pm). Stop by between 10-11:30am to meet the artist.
