PartnersGlobal is an international non-profit organization, with a network of 19 local Centers located around the world, which provides interns with a hands-on, valuable opportunity to gain exposure to working at the nexus of peacebuilding, democracy and citizen security. The Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) team focuses on projects and issue areas related to organizational development, security sector reform, anti-corruption, community policing and conflict resolution. The SSA team is looking for an outstanding individual to join us as a 2016 Spring Intern to assist with programmatic support, business development efforts and communications and are committed to fostering a vibrant learning and professional development atmosphere, offering mentorship and guidance throughout the internship term.

Description of Responsibilities:
Program Support (35%):
  • Hone your technical language skills by translating key project documents from French to English for submission to donor;
  • Develop logistics and planning skills through assisting with travel arrangements for program team members, under the supervision of Program Associates;
  • Familiarize yourself with event planning processes, such as providing support to event and meeting management, preparing invitation mailing lists, contributing content to event focus, tracking RSVPs, and handling all catering and space logistics; and
  • Expand your knowledge of country specific contexts by editing reports, presentations and other key program documents.
Business Development/Strategic Engagement (35%):
  • Gain a better understanding of the process and nuances to fundraising through conducting background research on new opportunities, and identifying donor priorities and donor engagement;
  • Enhance your networking skills by supporting Program staff on database management tracking engagement with key partners and potential donors with Salesforce, Partners' online relationship management platform; and
  • Attend conferences, trainings and meetings as appropriate to increase visibility and promote Partners work, and capitalize on networking opportunities.
Communications (30%):
  • Learn to communicate with brevity and clarity by tracking trending news and policy topics and updating team on current events in all priority countries (Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Guinea, Kenya, SAHEL region);
  • Gain strategic social media skills by working with the SSA team's social media strategy, such as supporting its' implementation through scheduling online engagement, helping to identify key online partners and actively participating via Twitter at Partners-related public events; and
  • Build your content management expertise by supporting SSA webpage updates when necessary.
Qualifications:
The ideal prospective candidate is a graduate student or recent college graduate with demonstrated interest, work experience, and/or academic study in the SSA region, citizen security, and/or democratic governance; exceptional English language abilities, research, writing and editing skills; full professional proficiency in French (fluency preferred); computer proficiency and a passion for getting organized; excellent interpersonal skills; and an insatiable desire to learn.
