Associate Director Food Protection & Defense Institute

FPDI is looking for a motivated visionary to help lead our team.

We are currently seeking an Associate Director to help develop the Institute’s overall strategic plan and objectives in collaboration with the Director, leadership team, and advisory board. Major responsibilities include active management of research, education, information technology, outreach projects, subcontracts and other contractual obligations. The Associate Director will be responsible for developing and maintaining liaisons and representing the Institute at major events as well as overseeing and establishing reporting requirements. Research expectations include serving as Principal Investigator or project lead on grants, contracts, or Institute products. All applications must be submitted through the UMN employment system.

About the Department

The Food Protection and Defense Institute (FPDI), a U.S. Department of Homeland Security Institute of Excellence led by the University of Minnesota, seeks a 100% time Associate Director for leadership of its global research, education, information technology, and outreach activities. The incumbent will be part of the Institute leadership team and will act in absence of the Director, in concert with the COO and the Research Director. The Institute is a consortium of universities and private sector partners with ground-breaking research, education, information technology, and outreach programs in all areas of food protection and defense. This Professional & Administrative position will report to the Director of FPDI. The position is annually renewable based on funding availability and job performance.
