Egypt Country Director, Population Council

TITLE: Project Officer
REPORTING TO: Country Director
LOCATION: Egypt - Cairo
ASSIGNMENT LENGTH: One Year Renewable (Pending availability of funds)

The Project Officer will be working on a project carried out by the Population Council in the area of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). The project involves conducting qualitative studies and analyzing large sets of quantitative data, and communicating research results to policy makers and other stakeholders through various channels.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
 Implementation of all project activities, including desk reviews, development of policy papers, commissioning of media activities, conducting qualitative study and organizing roundtable discussions, stakeholder meetings and end of project conference.
 Taking a lead role in translating project findings and outcomes into clear information relevant to policymakers, donors and key stakeholders;
 Representing the Council in the broader community through local, regional and international, forums, and meetings with donors, government officials and partners;
 Developing and delivering high impact presentations;
 Approaching potential donors and drafting proposals for possible funding opportunities to enhance gender, social and economic equality in Egypt and the Arab region;
 Participating in Council-wide activities as needed and directed by the Country Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:
 Master’s degree or equivalent in Social Sciences, Mass Communication or relevant field with a minimum of 8 years of work experience in a related field;
 Familiarity with topics of gender equality, social and economic justice is preferable;
 Strong English and Arabic language skills, both verbal and written;
 E-communication and computer skills are essential;
 Ability to read and interpret data, tables and graphs;
 Excellent presentation skills and ability to collaborate effectively with others in a cross-functional team;
 Organizational skills and ability to act independently;
 Willingness to travel within Egypt on regular short trips and internationally as necessary.

This position is available for immediate appointment. A competitive salary level, commensurate with the responsibilities and the applicant’s qualifications and past experience will be provided, in addition to the complete package of Population Council benefits for locally-hired staff.
