The Acara Challenge Launchpad!

Acara is offering PA 5290: Acara Impact Venture Launchpad, an intensive one week course on how to turn an idea into a viable social business model (1/9-1/13, 2 credits). The class is geared towards a multidisciplinary audience, with a wide variety of skills and backgrounds. The goal of the class is to work on technologies, policies, interventions or ideas that address a grand challenge. The course features numerous guest lecturers, discussions and activities for the aspiring social entrepreneur. Students and teams from this course will be strongly encouraged to compete in the Acara Challenge for funding to keep developing their idea. Apply by December 20 by emailing a project idea and resume to Fred Rose (rosex122@umn.edu).

The Acara Challenge 2017 is our annual competition for students to win $500 cash and up to $5000 in fellowship funding to research and pilot their ideas for financially sustainable impact ventures that address social and environmental challenges. Students receive intensive training and mentoring to learn how to best pitch their ideas at the competition. We strongly encourage students to take PA 5290 in January to prepare for the competition. Apply here by January 31, 2017.
