Chief Technical Advisor TOLERANCE Project Mgr (Kaduna, Nigeria)

The CTA will supervise and manage all aspects and staff of the TOLERANCE project, including IMC’s early warning system, the “Community Peace Action Network” (CPAN). The CTA will report directly to the Chief Of Party (COP) of the Project and give technical advice to the Chief of Party and Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP), and manage all staff on the project
Special duties of the CTA will include:
  • Manage and monitor the project plan to ensure successful completion of all plan activities and delivery of the project on schedule.
  • Provide sound technical advice and requisite guidance to the IMC team on all project activities.
  • Always facilitate strategic plan development and effective implementation of the project plan.
  • Prepare various achievement reports and submit them on agreed timeframe.
  • Oversee regular evaluation of IMC impact in target communities, and assist in the development of a data-driven culture at IMC, in which strategy is developed based on analysis of past project impacts.
  • Increase the number and quality of women’s participation in all aspects of the TOLERANCE project and across IMC networks.
  • Manage and monitor the budget to ensure that the project is delivered within budget.
  • Establish a team culture across all TOLERANCE activities and IMC.
  • Regularly give feedback to those staff reporting to him/her under the project.
  • Must be able to persuade all staff under his/her supervision to accomplish their tasks on time.
  • Must always effectively and efficiently communicate changes, plans, next steps and direction of the project for everyone on the project to feel carried along.
  • Ensure that all requirements of the project donor are satisfactorily completed in a timely manner.
  • Read and analyze conflict situations from the Community Peace Action Network (CPAN) data system, including election conflicts, and advise IMC management appropriately.  Oversee effective CPAN operations.
  • Observe high standards of personal integrity and professionalism in all aspects of IMC work.
  • Master's degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Political Sciences, Conflict Resolution, Management or other relevant fields;
  • Additional Qualification would be an added advantage.
  • The CTA must have at least five years of project management experience, including project evaluation and the management of relationships with international partners and donors. She or he must also demonstrate good interpersonal skills in order to maintain contact with IMC networks in the field.  Excellent English writing and analysis skills are essential, and fluency in Hausa is preferred
  • Capacity to work under pressure, manage stress and adapt to rapidly evolving conflict situations,
  • Dedication to the IMC core principles, promotion of equal rights of men and women, and respect for cultural, ethnic and religious diversity,
  • Proven management experience with sound knowledge and experience in all aspects of project cycle in the field of conflict mitigation (design, implementation, monitoring & evaluation),
  • Advanced computer skills and strong knowledge of various software including excel, power-point and word,
  • Knowledge of cultural, traditional and religious context of Nigeria,
  • Data entry and management skills to support the CPAN database are a plus.
