Alliance Française Mpls/St Paul celebrates Lebanon

Each March, more than 33 million people around the world celebrate Le Mois de la Francophonie, a global initiative led by the International Organisation of La Francophonie to highlight the diversity of French-speaking cultures.

This year, for the month of Francophonie, Alliance Française Mpls/St Paul invites you to a
Celebration of Lebanon.
With French roots dating back to the mandate which assigned Ottoman Syria, including modern-day Lebanon, to France following World War I. France played an active role in the reconstruction of Lebanon following their civil war in 1990, and also the 2006 war with Israel. French influence remains prevalent today, particularly in Lebanon's schools, architecture, system of governance, and language.

In March 2016, Alliance Française will celebrate the history, culture and traditions of Lebanon.
