“9 Billion and Counting,” hosted by the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences, will include discussions with global food experts including a keynote address by 2016 World Food Prize Laureate Jan Low from the International Potato Center.
Additional presenters will include food industry leaders and University of Minnesota food and agricultural scientists. Following the symposium, the new campus Eldon Siehl Garden and Plaza, which honors winners of the Siehl Prize for Excellence in Agriculture and features a bronze statue of Nobel Peace Prize laureate Norman Borlaug, the U of M alumnus who led the “Green Revolution” that saved millions of people from starvation in the 1960s and ‘70s, will be unveiled. The day ends with a casual reception.
