MINN Feb 23 NGO event & networking

Thursday, February 23rd: Talk at Tour at Friends of Ngong Road   6:00pm to 7:00pm

Join MINN for an evening of learning and discussion about Friends of Ngong Road (FONR) with Paula Meyer, president and founder of the organization. FONR provides education and support to children living in poverty in Kenya whose families are affected by HIV/AIDS.   [Note from Sherry Gray: Several HHH alumni did internships with this organization--HHH students interested see me for more information.]

Meyer left a successful career at Ameriprise Financial in 2006 and has since focused on building FONR. As President of FONR, Meyer leads a talented team of senior executive volunteers from a variety of business backgrounds. After many years as a corporate executive, Meyer’s belief is that the skills she and the organization’s board of directors have learned in business can be applied successfully to deliver results in a different context. Under her leadership FONR has grown from an idea to a vibrant organization delivering education and life transformation for nearly 400 children in Nairobi, Kenya.

In 2015, the board of directors launched for-profit, portable sanitation business called Karibu Loo to provide income to the charitable mission. Karibu Loo operates in Nairobi and is an exciting addition to the FONR story. Its goal is to provide one-third of FONR's budget and jobs to graduates of the program.

Space is limited, RSVP today!

MINN Talk and Tours (T&T) are an opportunity for MINN members to gain first-hand knowledge of the workings of international NGOs in the state. The T&T agenda is simple. Employees of an international NGO offer a private tour of their facility and then field questions about their organization’s work and their office culture. While MINN T&Ts are free and open to MINN Members, space is limited, and registration is required. Please consider joining the hundreds of international professionals who already have a MINN membership. Click here to join. If you have questions regarding your membership write us at membership@minnesotangos.org.

There will be a networking opportunity following the Talk and Tour at Park Tavern starting at 7 pm. The Park Tavern event is open to all who would like to network with the MINN community and FONR staff!

If this event is filled please sign up for the waitlist as we often ask waitlisted people to attend closer to the event.
